Four bridges in this steep sided wooded valley had come to the end of their lives so we were asked by Kirklees Council to replace them.
The replacement bridges were made from Ekki timber which is a very strong and very heavy wood that will last for many years to come. However that led to a challenge to get them down into a valley with no access
The flat pack bridges were taken through a field using our alpine tractor with dual wheels on to avoid damage to the closest points and then over a wall on down the bank using a combination slings and brute force. It took lots of us to be able to move them safely into position.
New footings were built to prevent the river scouring and the bridges assembled in position.
Despite the exceptional weight of the ekki bridges it was another job well done on a site challenging site.
